Cornwall Marketing 2012-15

The Cornwall Marketing Project delivers two distinct but interlinked strands of activity.


Thiscovers all overseas activity focusing specifically on North America as the geographic target market. This work is delivered through a combination of different marketing channels including sector events and trade shows, marketing collateral development, investor engagement, business proposition development and social media and website activity. The aim is to attract high value, high quality inward investors who will in turn create high quality employment opportunities in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Cornwall Brand

A key objective of the Cornwall Brand is in changing perceptions of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly as a business location and to overcome negative and outdated perceptions of the area as a predominantly tourism destination. The work focuses resources on the three key sectors (aerospace, renewable energy and ICT) as well as second-tier sectors including food and drink, biomedical and marine. This involves PR activity (press coverage, case studies and website and social media) as well as UK-based event marketing with the aim of challenging and updating people’s perceptions of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly as a place to do business. These activities are supported by a Brand Ambassador Programme of around 33 leading Cornish companies to promote Cornish business innovation, entrepreneurship and success outside of the County.

In addition the project will look to maintain a presence at key international events and trade shows both in the UK and internationally.

The project team has also worked with the Export Cornwall/UKTI Globalisation team to put together a soft landings package for potential investors. The project has allocated funds to host investor trips to Cornwall for a period of three days.
