Based in Torpoint, Mashfords used the ERDF investment to buy a 12 tonne sublift hoist.
This has meant that Mashfords have been able to utilise valuable yard space to maximum effect and will allow them to lift more modern vessels with diverse hull shapes.
Most importantly, all current refits have to take place on the slipway and therefore take up space on the slipways. The new hoist will allow refit projects for smaller boats to be moved off the slips while work takes place contributing to an overall increase in capacity meaning that an additional 4 refits at any one time can be carried out.
Convergence assistance is being provided through the Grant for Business Investment Strategic Investment Framework which has been established to support the expansion, modernisation and diversification of businesses, typically through acquisition of key assets such as buildings, plant and machinery – creating jobs, raising business productivity and raising skills levels.
