Science & Engineering Research Facility
Providing additional office and laboratory space to expand research facilities at the University of Exeter’s Penryn Campus. The Science & Engineering Research Facility is needed to enable further growth in research and academic activity.
This project, developed by the University of Exeter, will see the construction of a new 1200m2 BREEAM Excellent building on the campus at Tremough, Penryn. This will provide space for the expansion of the existing University of Exeter Business School, the marine renewables team and the Centre of Ecology and Conservation.
The space comprises flexible office and desk space for academic and research staff, postgraduate research students, a space for business engagement, and a large area of dedicated laboratory space for Offshore Renewables and Biosciences research, including marine conservation. This will enable the University to accommodate 15 new planned academic posts which will lever in research funding through applications to research councils, the EU, and major charitable trusts.
The project will further underpin the long term sustainability of the University of Exeter’s operation in Cornwall, helping to ensure that it is financially and operationally sustainable in the long term.
