David Proctor. DP Engineering.
Precision engineering firm DP Engineering has provided machined parts for the marine, aerospace, defence, oil & gas, pneumatics, medical and leisure & tourism industries since 1952.
Having outgrown its current premises and in need of more space, DP Engineering sought support from Grant for Business Investment, an ERDF Convergence funded project.
With an investment of £150,000 DP Engineering was able to expand and continue production in Cornwall at the Treleigh Industrial Estate, Redruth.
5 minutes with:
David Proctor, CEO DP Engineering.
DP Engineering has experienced a pretty meteoric rise in terms of turnover hasn’t it?
Yes. The growth at DPE accelerated from our first relocation in 2003 (£700k p/a) and subsequent relocation to our current site last year where sales has grown to £3.5 million per annum.
And the premises have grown too.
Our original 4k sq.ft. dilapidated premises was based at Blackwater. We then relocated to a 10k sq.ft. unit at the Treleigh Industrial site in 2003 and our most recent relocation took place last year to our current 17k sq.ft. unit also on the Treleigh Industrial estate.
Not to mention the amount you export…
DP Engineering’s diverse customer base has resulted in over 20% of its sales now being exported to countries such as France, Austria, Sweden, Holland and even China.
How many people do you employ?
We have 40 full time employees
What has the ERDF Convergence investment through GBI meant to the company?
DP Engineering’s exceptional growth has not only been achieved by good commercial decision making and our ability to compete in a very aggressive market but also by the support received from the GBI investment team. Without this support the speed of growth would not have been possible.
What are your plans for the future?
We have quickly utilised almost all of the shop floor area and if we continue to sustain our current growth we may need to extend our facility in the not too distant future.
