Grant funding from the Convergence Programme has been awarded to an employment space and infrastructure project on the Threemilestone Industrial Estate, Truro. Walker Threemilestone Ltd has been awarded some £3M from the European Regional Development Fund for the Walker Business Park project.
The project involves the development of high quality low carbon employment space comprising a total of some 3,419 sqm of office and hybrid industrial units. The development will be constructed to achieve BREEAM “Excellent” status and represents the first speculative development of hybrid industrial units in Truro for nearly 20 years. Some 132 jobs are forecasted to be created following completion of the development.
Rob Walker, Director, Walker Threemilestone Ltd said: ‘It has been a long time with the planning of this development and we are delighted that we have secured the grant funding from the Convergence Programme. Work on the scheme will start in September and we anticipate completing the development within 2 years.’
In addition, the Convergence grant funding will also facilitate the provision of a new junction layout at the entrance to the Threemilestone Industrial Estate that will greatly improve the traffic accessibility to and from the Estate.
Maureen Walker, Director, Walker Threemilestone Ltd said: ‘We hope the development will enhance the Threemilestone Business Park with the latest facilities and workspace in the Truro area. Coupled with the improvements to the junction, the whole business park will benefit as a whole.’
Russell Dodge, Project Manager, Business Location Services Ltd added: ‘This is a very significant investment in high quality employment space in Truro and we believe there will be strong demand for the space.’
WalkerBusinessPark is located on the established Threemilestone Industrial Estate. The new scheme will provide the link between the older industrial / trade counter units and the more modern offices within the existing business park. WalkerBusinessPark is ideally located alongside the A390 between Truro city centre and the main A30 trunk road at Chiverton Cross roundabout giving access to the rest of the county and the M5 at Exeter.
BLS Estates (01872 222777) and Vickery Holman (01872 245600) have been appointed as joint marketing agents by Walker Threemilestone Ltd to undertake the marketing of the development.
Business Location Services Ltd of Truro undertook the preparation of the Convergence Grant Funding application on behalf of Walker Threemilestone Ltd.
